In November 2003, Evergreen launched its first major capital stewardship
campaign in support of its vision for ministry and 228th Avenue
building project. We called the campaign A Time For Vision, seeing
it as more than a fundraising event. It is also an initiative to
re-cast and embrace our vision to make dynamic disciples. This is
a vision that must begin in the heart of the believer, extend to
his family and then to his church, community and world beyond.
A ministry that offers a visible and welcoming presence in its
community and region . . .
A ministry that opens its doors to actively engage its community
in meaningful ways . . .
A ministry that presents the life-changing message of Jesus
Christ with truth and grace, inviting seekers to follow Him . .
.
A ministry that provides significant and expanding opportunities
for children, students and adults to grow in faith, in worship,
in fellowship and in service . . .
A ministry that sends forth its people as dynamic disciples
of Jesus equipped to engage their culture and change their world
. . .
A ministry that honors God in all that it does both inside and
outside its walls.
A Time For Vision is divided into two primary phases. The
commitment phase ranged over a period of eight weeks in the winter
of 2004. During those early weeks, the congregation of Evergreen
gathered for informational house meetings, prayer activities, a
leadership event and on our building site itself to reflect upon
the vision for ministry to which God has called us and to consider
how our building project would further equip us to reach for its
fulfillment. This phase culminated with an inspiring celebration
service and the response of God's people of Evergreen in the form
of over-and-above pledge commitments to help fund this vital project.
With commitment phase behind us, a three year giving phase commenced,
and households shifted into gear to honor their pledges. We have passed our campaign's
halfway mark with excellent result, and look forward
to the continued faithfulness of God's people.
Newcomers to the vision are welcomed. We invite you to visit our
Time For Vision exhibit in the information area at one of
our Sunday morning services or contact us for more information about
the campaign or our building project. In addition, periodic newcomers
house meetings are scheduled, an opportunity to hear more of our
vision for ministry, as well as to meet others in the Evergreen
family. We invite you to watch for announcements of these events
and to be alert to other communications too, such as our Time
For Vision Newsletter, a regular bulletin insert entitled Property
Development Update and occasional Sunday morning service "spotlights."
If you would like to join us as an active participant in helping
to make our vision a reality, pledge cards are available every Sunday
morning at the Time For Vision exhibit, as well as at our
offices. Of course, over-and-above gifts apart from a formal pledge
are frequently offered and gratefully received.
